God Will Make A Way

“…Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are Mine. When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you.” (1)

Through great adversity when all hope is lost where do you turn? We see tragic occurrences daily. In today’s world there are so many uncertainties, with consecutive earthquakes, economic decline, and the ebbing away of moral values. All the negative draws of the world can pull you down leaving you anxious about tomorrow. With pressure culminating in daily living it is good to know and reassure ourselves that God has a plan. He will prevail to accomplish His purposes. Perhaps God will do something new today. That is the message Don Moen wanted to leave with his despairing relatives when he wrote “God Will Make a Way.” His desire was to bring hope to a family who mourned over a tragic event of a accident that left the family in desperate straits.

Don Moen felt compelled to write “God Will Make A Way” upon hearing about instant devastating news. His sister-in-law and her family were involved in a tragic car accident. One of their children died instantly. Afterwards, Moen was asked by the family to come and sing at his nephew’s memorial service. In pulling together his emotions he felt the pangs of inadequacy. He was struggling to find words of comfort in such a bleak and hopeless situation which caused him to turn to prayer. Though seeking God with a heavy heart, the Lord inspired Moen to write the words to this song. The lyrics are a gentle comfort to those who are hurting – that, God has not forgotten and He will make a way out of that difficult situation. “God will Make a Way”

God will make a way,
Where there seems to be no way,
He works in ways we cannot see;
He will make a way for me.

He will be my guide,
Hold me closely to His side,
With love and strength for each new day;
He will make a way, He will make a way!

By a roadway in the wilderness, He’ll lead me,
And rivers in the desert will I see,
Heaven and earth will fade but His Word will still remain;
And He will do something new today.

With love and strength for each new day;                                                                                   He will make a way; He will make a way.

Don wrote this song from Isaiah 43. (3) “Do not call to mind the former things, or ponder things of the past. Behold, I will do something new. Now it will spring forth; will you now be aware of it? I will even make a roadway in the wilderness, rivers in the desert.

Lord, Thank You for Your unfailing love over me again. Thank You for making a way out of this difficult situation. I commit these circumstances to You and will trust Your love and power to sustain me. Amen.
