“For thou art great and doest wondrous things: teach me thy way, O Lord, and I will walk in thy truth: knit mine heart unto thee, that I may fear thy Name.” (1)
Life is busy! In my exhaustion with all the hustle and bustle of life I question, “Lord what would you have me do? What service can I do that would be significant, and meaningful in my life today? Can I commit this day to engage myself in the interest of my Heavenly Father’s business? How do I live in such a way, in that, any praise or good offered would deflect any praise or glory off myself and direct all to Jesus, to whom all is due?”
“Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you entirely; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved complete, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ…Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to make you stand in the presence of His glory blameless with great joy” (2)
God desires to bring you into a new place today. His promise holds you! The Lord is keeping you by preserving your life, for Him and His purposes. His desires are that you become a pure offering – to commit your whole heart to Christ in uniting yourself completely to Him. As you commit your way to Him He will set you in position for greater purpose so you can walk with a destiny. I submit you humbly come seeking and praying, O Great Jehovah, show me what you would have me do that I may obtain thy favor. Teach me to know you more and lead me in your ways. Then, I can walk in truth. Knit mine heart to thine that I will fear thy name, forever. Glad is the heart that is found in holding reverence to God. The very purpose you were created for is for loving God.
“Therefore, since we receive a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us show gratitude, by which we may offer to God an acceptable service with reverence and awe” (3)
Frances Ridley Havengal’s penned the sweetest words ever on a “life given up ” to the Lord. “Not for “me” at all, but “for Jesus”; not for my safety, but for His glory; not for my comfort, but for His joy; not that I may find rest, but that He may see the travail of His soul, and be satisfied! Yes, for Him I want to be kept. Kept for His sake; kept for His use; kept to be His witness; kept for His joy! Kept for Him, that in me He may show forth some tiny sparkle of His light and beauty; kept to do His will and His work in His own way; kept (it may be) to suffer for His sake; kept for Him, that He may do just what seemeth Him good with me; kept, so that no other lord shall have any more dominion over me, but that Jesus shall have all there is to have – little enough, indeed, but not divided or diminished by any other claim. Is not this, O you who love the Lord – is not this worth living for, worth asking for, worth trusting for? (4)
Are you willing to live for God’s glory?
Before You I kneel, O Lord and Master, to offer to You my heart. Bind it to You to beat solely with Yours in a singular rhythm…till I reflect Your image and glory. Come and flow within me like a stream of living waters. Establish the work of my hands while preserving them so that a great harvest may be grown from them. Lord set my steps to follow hard after Your ways, that I may glorify You great name. Amen.
