“And those who know Your name will put their trust in You, for You, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You.” (1)
Do you REALLY know God’s name? That is; do you really know God, not just facts about God, or an intellectual knowledge of Him, as the Son of God who died for the sins of the world…but do you really KNOW Him in a personal way? His name, what He has done for you, who is He? Jesus is Lord, King, and Ruler of the universe! He holds all authority and credentials above all, and His work far exceeds any other. Jesus died a criminal death, although innocent. He died to save you from your sins. He became sin for you.
“Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for unless you believe that I am He, you will die in your sins.” (2)
He saved you from the wrath of the Father by His death and resurrection. When you receive salvation, you accept what Jesus did for you by faith. Your relationship is foundational in receiving truth about Christ’s strength and character. He is the essences and nature of God; full of grace and truth, reliable and worthy. Daily our trust is being tested and approved as we find Him good, honest and dependable. Time mixed with experience teaches us about God’s unchanging attributes – He is true to His name.
“Thus God, determining to show more abundantly to the heirs of promise the immutability of His counsel, confirmed it by an oath, (His word) that by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, that we might have strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold of the hope set before us.” (3) We have strong consolations in the unchangeable character of God. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. His Word and promises are powerful words of comfort speaking life into us.
God is unchanging in His character; His love is wise and true, He pardons sins; is forbearing, long-suffering, patient and kind. His Word is holy, true, confirming, and His promises are secure. His love covers you with loving-kindness and He will never fail you nor will He ever leave you or forsake you. You can rest in Him and you will never be snatched out of the Father’s hand. He works all things for your good…He is your forever friend.
Christ is your friend but He is unlike any other friend. He is always present wherever you go. He is with you always. He is your refuge to run into (see Proverbs. 18:10) and eternal hope. You have been given a great privilege, and honor to walk worthy of His glorious majesty. Run to Him to seek a closer communion, with Jesus, like no other.
May our meditations be; “that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death: (4)
Do you REALLY know God? Is your relationship with God so rock solid that your believe God is with you no matter the affliction? In His presence abides a mighty grace and power actively at work in you. Remember your trust is built on solid ground. Jesus is the Rock of your salvation!
O Most High God, in reverence, I thank you for calling me just as I am. I acknowledge my need to know You, more…seeking You with a fresh urgency today. Show me Your greatness. Lord, I pray you will keep me close to your side and I will worship your great name forever. Amen.
