“I stand in awe” are but short and few words given to express my highest wonder and praise to the Almighty God, for it is He who created the magnificence of the universe, and put His beauty on display.
One peculiar evening my family and I were able to witness the spectacular beauty of God’s world. Here we stood together on our daughters balcony, in Colorado, looking far into the darken southern sky. With awe we were sharing the wonder of God’s creation, but at the same time God was sweetly speaking into my heart.
“The heavens declare the glory of God; and the sky above proclaims His handiwork. Day to day pours out speech, and night to night reveals knowledge (1).”
Bouncing off the backdrop of darkness was a brilliant light shinning from the fullness of the moon’s reflection. There set the moon beaming behind clouds lined by its light. From a distance I stood in silence captured by crackles of light seen in the lightning flashes. It sparkling shoots were flashing in between the clouds. What a majestic sight which merits my highest praise to the greatness of God. It is our God who marked off the heavens and calculated the moon, sun, and number of stars which He calls by name (2).
God creation of nature; the wonders of the skies, the sunrises, and the sunsets are put on display for our pleasures. These blessings and so much more ought to turn us to adore and honor Jesus supremely as eminent Lord. There is something even more astounding to me. This awesome God, who created the world, takes thought of you and me. Truly, isn’t that amazing?
“When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars which You have ordained, what is man that You take thought of him, and the son of man that You visit him? (3)“
God is thinking of you right now. He loves you more than you could imagine. Take the time to thank Him today.
Jesus, You are beautiful in every way. Thank You for giving us the simple pleasures of seeing Your greatness on display in this place at this time. Your work is perfect and Your Ways are holy. I praise You for who You are, the Living God. I thank You that in Your plan you take thought of man and care for me. I praise Your name sweet Jesus. In Your mighty name, Amen!
