“Fear not [there is nothing to fear], for I am with you; do not look around you in terror and be dismayed, for I am your God, I will strengthen and harden you in difficulties, yes, I will help you; yes, I will hold you up and retain you with my [victorious] right hand of rightness and justice.” Isaiah 40: 9-11 (amp)
Fear is one of the greatest defeats in life. It is crippling! I remember the overwhelming fear which consumed me when my son, Michael, was murdered. I was fearful of another assault of violence within our family. Anxiety overtook me when I thought of court hearings and a coming trial. I feared what people would think. I feared life without Mike…I loved him so much! He was my life and joy, as are my other children and grandchildren. He was mentally strong, adding strength and firmness into my life. I had confidence in knowing that no matter the calamity – my life would be stabilized because I had him to lean on. Perhaps, I had a false security in Michael, instead of the true rock solid security in the Lord. Our security is easily shaken when we are not dependent on solely on the Lord.
When storms shake our faith, we can reflect back on what we know to be true; we belong to the Lord and He is always with us. He is always faithful to see us through each and every adversity we face. The Lord is our safe refuge where our hope and strength lies. We need not to look around in terror or feel discouraged. God is with us in our storms – to strengthen and harden us through difficulties. God supplies faith and fortitude to stand up to every trial with courage and might. Such fortitude guards and supports us as we depend on the Lord’s provision. Take time today to thank the Lord for His reliable power to overcome fear. Because He loves you, you have nothing to fear.
A saintly call: Courageous faith can be the fortitude to keep you fearlessly optimistic through life’s challenges.
“The name of the Lord is a strong tower and the righteous run into it and are safe.” Proverbs 18:10 (nkjv)
Heavenly Father, when I feel fearful I will commit these fears to you. Thank You for Your supreme authority over my life which surpass all earthly resistance. I claim Your surpassing power to cover and fortify me – by the blood of Jesus. Thank You for loving me. Amen.
Great job of expression Kim – I can imagine how it must have felt for you even though I was right there experiencing it with you. We all process differently. Keep your thoughts and words coming to all of us who need to learn from them…..Donna
